Just curious, how much does body hair affect the appearance of tattoo.

Ok, so here is the reason I ask… I have a huge sacred heart in the center of my back so I am not in anyway against large tattoos. As a matter of a fact I want to have my entire back covered. My husband doesn’t mind this as long as I can cover it. But there is a no no area in his book and that is any kind of sleeve on a girl…he says that it is tacky and a bit trashy…He is worried that since I am finishing up school to become a teacher that this would cause a BIG problem for me. I don’t want the whole arm just a quarter sleeve on my upper arm. I am a big time star wars fanatic with an extensive and I mean extensive Leia collection and I want to have a piece done of her

I really want to have it done, but again I am getting the negative from him…who himself is getting a sleeve done….
So what do you think…about this matter…should it matter where I want to get it and if girls have sleeves or is he right?

I understand the value of looking professional and I agree 100%. I don’t think that teachers should be wearing sleeveless tops at school either…..that is not business casual or acceptable in the first place. I understand when to show and when not to show my ink. I don’t approve of neck tattoos or obscene tattoos, but I am majoring to be an English teacher/ Art. I am an artist by trade…My back piece is a huge Romeo and Juliet piece in the works because that is what inspired me in High School …and is the reason I want to teach in the first place…My husband is a police officer… who wants sleeves…now talk about professionalism.

Im still only in highschool mind you but im just wondering, because i really would like to be a mechanic and i plan on going to college to study mechanics before i go out and get a good job but i also really want tat sleeves, if i decide to get sleeves done over time do they really bias against people with a lot of tattoos in the mechanic industry?? sorry for my scrawled question too, im sorta lazy with my typing.

so today i had a meeting my one of the tattoo artists in the local tattoo shops to speak about my future tattoo i told him what i want etc.. he drew up like 3 stencils,i looked at his portfolio spoke about the price and time( how long will it take to finish it)
but i wasnt satisfied with the drawing i dont know if it was me being picky or him missunderstanding me
anyway he told me that it will take about 10-12 hours of work to finish the tattoo ( i want a 3/4 sleeve) (starting from my shoulder and finishing about 5 inches below my elbow ) and i dont know if i should call it a sleeve i dont want the under/inside of my arm tattooed only the “front”
and that it will be 100$ per hour so somewhere from 1000-1200$ for the whole project
as for the design i want a geisha,japanese koi fish and some flowers the image that i have in my head is that the geisha is kneeling or sitting on a rock near the pond and the koi will be peeking thru the water with some water flowers floating on the top of the water

i will be meeting with another artist after the Veterans Day in about 2 weeks

so my question is how long did it take to finish your sleeve and how much did you pay for it ?? also did you pay by “piece work” ( piece by piece ) or upfront for the whole project ??

I have a tattoo sleeve but I wanted to join the Army or Marines. Will this prevent me from enlisting and is there anything I can do to get around it?

Do you know of any stores that would sell a slip-on tattoo sleeve?

I’d rather not buy off the internet, do you think any stores woudl have it? Also, I live in miami so do you think that Miami ink would sell that kind of stuff in their store? (since “Miami Ink” is one of the popular brands out there on the internet)…

Do you just pick random tattos you like that somewhat go together and flow, or is there a design that is just for a tattoo sleeve? If you have one, how did you do it and how much did it cost? Any advice and info I can find anywhere?

I would like a tattoo sleeve but does just 1 look silly? is it usual to have both arms done? I have 2 tattoos on one arm & 3 on the other.
